Hopefully the non-sad version of it: Meaningful Lyrics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I think if I just stick to the lyrics of\u00a0<em>modern songs<\/em>, we should avoid the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kalev.org\/kblog\/2016\/11\/25\/i-seriously-had-this-great-topic-for-today-but-then-as-i-was-researching-it-i-started-getting-sad-and-then-it-was-after-midnight\/\">sadness I was experiencing earlier<\/a>\u00a0when I was trying to draft an entry about lyrics that either I find really clever, or evocative, or both. Mainly both.<\/p>\n<p>It seems like an appropriate title, since blogging is all about words and writing.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, my first entry isn&#8217;t modern really. But it\u00a0<em>does<\/em> come from the musical that&#8217;s had the most impact on me, ever.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>take my hand<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and lead me to salvation<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> take my love<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> for love is everlasting<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and remember the truth that once was spoken<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> to love another person is to see the face of God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s from Les Miz&#8230; the finale. Yes, very Christian, but I love it nonetheless. Because even if I don&#8217;t believe in a monotheistic, &#8220;old man in the clouds,&#8221; god, I think the sentiment is perfect. Plus, harmony from my two favourite Les Miz characters, Fantine and Eponine.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_afrqUtzrF0&#038;t=6m23s<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>and sometimes when we touch<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> the honesty&#8217;s too much<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and I have to close my eyes and hide<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I want to hold you &#8217;til I die<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> &#8217;til we both break down and cry<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I want to hold you &#8217;til the fear in me subsides<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Okay, this isn&#8217;t modern either&#8230; but I swear all the others are!<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;d have to be of a certain era to get this one&#8230; it&#8217;s Dan Hill&#8217;s most famous song (some would say one-hit wonder),\u00a0<em>Sometimes When We Touch<\/em>. Basically I love it because my mum loved it, and it always makes me think of her. But on top of that, it does a great job of describing love.<\/p>\n<p>Also, please don&#8217;t die of the cheese factor of this particular video. Shot in Hell (aka Toronto) apparently. I suspect Krista will enjoy. THIS ONE LINE. Possibly the best single lyric I&#8217;ve ever come across, so no surprise it&#8217;s from modern-day poet Sara Bareilles. Lucky me, I got to hear\u00a0it belted out live by Jessie Mueller in\u00a0<em>Waitress<\/em> on Broadway. The show, while not perfect, was worth it just for Mueller&#8217;s performance of this song. While I was\u00a0<em>born<\/em> in the 70s, I may have mentioned that I hate that decade, and when I first heard this line, I interpreted it as &#8220;time at\u00a0which you came of age,&#8221; and if I&#8217;m a child of any decade, it is the 90s.
